Specificity: This antibody recognises the Mouse CD71 marker, the transferrin receptor. Stains dividing cells, and can be used to distinguish resting from activated T cells.

Purification: Ion Exchange Chromatography.

Immunogen: Concanavilin A activated mouse spleen cells. Spleen cells from immunised DA rat were fused with cells of the Y3/Ag1.2.3 rat myeloma cell line.

Application Notes: Flow Cytometry: The Fc region of monoclonal antibodies may bind non-specifically to cells expressing low affinity Fc receptors.

Background: CD71 antigen expression is low on normal resting lymphocytes and is expressed on all cells upon activation. The transferrin receptor is essential for iron transport into proliferating cells, such as mitogen-activated and alloantigen-activated lymphoblasts.
